I’ve Created A Thing That Will Never Bring Me Pleasure moves like soft detonations, balancing brutal recollection with slippery metaphysical queries. Think body + memory + newsfeed + grief + joy + longing, stitched into the shape of a question no one asked but everyone feels pressed against the roof of their mouth. Saigh’s voice is elegiac without nostalgia, self-aware without apology. You’ll find bagpipes, Trump t-shirts, Dr. Phil, stillbirths, disappearing mall corridors, and a dog leaking ink. But mostly, you’ll find a speaker circling the very edges of presence—mothers and daughters, lovers and selves, the vast, unanswerable landscape of ethics and embodiment.
 
Images by Edie Roberts highlight the tension between private ache and public collapse, maternal lineage and capitalist waste, encouraging their images to thread through the mess—sometimes delicate, sometimes cracked, always reaching.
 
MARGARET SAIGH is the author of three chapbooks and the creator of circlet, a poetry workshop and reading series. Her writing has been published widely in print and across the web. She received an MFA from the University of Pittsburgh.
 
EDIE ROBERTS is a gender mess blessed with excess anxiety and midwestern disposition. They currently live in Detroit, MI where they curate events and conversations all while dreaming of fully-automated leisure utopias and the end of scarcity.
