DUETDUET (vol 12) features seven poems by Cy March and five poems by Ola Faleti, right side up or upside down depending on how you hold it. March writes like someone “whispering into a glass of milk”—trying to balance a candle under an umbrella in the rain. “All is well/ I smile about/ Drinking sprite/ In my jeans/ The light turned/ Off your hand/ Inside me/ I peer out/ The dark room.” Faleti, meanwhile, arrives with the precision of a prophet who’s seen too much daytime TV. Her poems hold the gravity of a sermon spoken underwater in your childhood pool: “Heaven is an end to all snap judgments. Heaven is in the palm lines of my hand.” Together, Faleti and March perform a duet that feels like a séance in a laundromat, an “ache that hums beneath skin”—something that continues to burn, even in water. Volume twelve of an ongoing series.
