Chelsea Tadeyeske’s Island Weather (2023), Orange Poems (2024), and Le Monde Entier East Notre Musée D’Art (2024, w/ Ridley Tankersley).

Three of the editor-in-chief baddie’s classics—Island Weather (2023), Orange Poems (2024), and Le Monde Entier East Notre Musée D’Art (2024, w/ Ridley Tankersley). Tadeyeske both paralyzes and entices you with cutting and seemingly desperate internal/external observation throughout her work. The three chapbooks offered in this bundle illustrates the brilliant push and pull that exists in her poems, one that leaves you intrigued, enraptured and forever changed.

ISLAND WEATHER, written in its entirety throughout April 2022 as part of Gamlí Skolí’s artist residency on Hrísey Island, Iceland, is an exercise in mystic, moody ritual. Tadeyeske examines the body cut open by rock, illuminated by sunshine and soaked in ocean—attempting to trace the impressions and reverberations of place in memory, viscera and the collective experience of loneliness.

Chelsea Tadeyeske’s Orange Poems is a collection of tiny fireworks in muted bursts under glass, an organized pile of discarded corners. Written following an overwhelming flood of loss, Orange Poems pays homage to autumnal leaves as they head to slaughter—a chromatic gasp of color before inevitable decay. Tadeyeske’s observations lead us through a maze of overstuffed trashcans as an analog for grief. “how does a mind ‘wander’/ how does a bone’ bend’?” Let these poems answer your impossible questions while inhaling your heart.

When you say “Chelsea Tadeyeske/Ridley Tankersley” five times fast, their names might melt together like a fistful of warm crayons—the same may happen if you read through these poems at 5X maximum speed. Written over the course of 10 months, whenever they were together in physical place/time, these poems draw up a world obsessed with space, built from external and internal observations—two towers facing one another, becoming the other’s flattering funhouse mirror. In Le Monde Entier Est Notre Musée D’Art, Tadeyeske and Tankersley illuminate the mundane and make it matter, make it devastating, complex, paradoxical, beautiful, and in love with being alive.
