“I am trying to admit something that’s true & won’t destroy me.”
Stephanie Lane Sutton’s girl god is both an elegy and an anthem, a charged palimpsest of myth and memory damned to skin and a pulse. These poems are humming with endowment and rupture, fracturing narrative and lifting the skirt of language, witnessing its own rebirth.
girl god moves like a muscle—fragments of hunger, of inheritance, of teeth pressed against the edge of a question. Let these poems lead you barefoot over glass, not to prove a point, but because it was always there. Urgent, luminous, and unrelenting—this book does not ask for permission; it simply insists on being.
