DUETDUET (vol 7) features five poems from Peter Burzyński and four poems from Greg Zorko, right side up or upside down depending on how you hold them. These pieces are “cacti in a swamp”– equal parts echoey, stretchy, sharp and sarcophagus shaped. Burzyński and Zorko recite their love poems from a deep pool full of Winston-Salem smoke filtered through a hotel window, crash dummies from the cosmos and a tired team of 3 dozen horses hauling co-emperors of Russia. These poems remind us that we are very much in love, but also very, very tired–“eyes bubble up/like new yeast in water.”
